Meet Matthew Best

Regional Manager of Corporate Sales (NSW & QLD), Signet

Each and every day is different. It always feels good to end a day knowing I have made a difference for our customers and Signet.

Matthew entered the Signet Graduate Program in 2005 with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), and it didn’t take him long to realise his passion for sales. After spending a couple of years as a Corporate Account Manager, Matthew made the move from Brisbane to the Sydney office as a Sales Executive. Today, he’s the Regional Manager of Corporate Sales across NSW and Queensland.

“There is a saying at Signet which is ‘you get out, what you put in’ which really resonates with me. I believe this drive and making a difference for my company and customers has helped me with what I’ve achieved so far.”

Challenging processes for the best results

Matthew is intrinsically motivated by results, and loves making a difference to businesses to help them compete.

“I’ve had the opportunity to align our continuous improvement initiatives, which ultimately means adding value for our customers. I like recognising our strengths as a company and identifying the areas where we can improve to actively help Australian businesses.”

Matthew works across multiple industries, from large grocery distribution centres to production facilities. He loves seeing the results and understanding the process and story behind them.

“I’ve often walked through a supermarket and recognised our products. Seeing this and knowing you’ve helped provide support to companies is a good feeling. In some cases, we’ve helped customers turn a situation around to the point that we get them out of a bind. Being a solution provider is at the core of what we do in sales and I really love that.”

Endless opportunity & development

Like Matthew, many Winson Group leaders started their careers through the Graduate Program and he believes it’s an unrivalled option for graduates.

“I chose Signet because they’re genuinely focused on developing people. I thought marketing was for me but with the opportunities I was given, I quickly realised sales and business development were more my thing. Without the program, I don’t think I’d be where I am today. They helped kick-start my career and that of so many others. It’s a testament to the effort they put into their graduates.”

“All my roles have tied in together and each has helped me in the next. I am excited about my next challenge, in management. I am part of the Winson Group Leadership Development Program, which means I will be able to improve my skills further through structured training and support. I also have a great team and the positive culture is fostered from the top down. We work very hard but make sure we don’t take ourselves too seriously. It really is a great place to work.”
